Warm Gathering in Brooklyn – Eat Dumplings on New Year’s Day, Join Us for the Year of the Horse Celebration!

While Toronto’s winter chill still lingered with its biting cold, the campus of Brooklyn College was already filled with the warmth of the Year of the Horse. On the first day of the Lunar New Year, Brooklyn College gathered its faculty and students together to celebrate the festive occasion. Sharing reunion dumplings, the event allowed students far from home to experience the warmth of the New Year’s atmosphere and feel the comforting embrace of “home” within the foreign campus.

As a renowned boarding international private high school in Ontario, Brooklyn has upheld the philosophy of “not just a school, but a home for students in Canada” since its founding in 1997. With meticulous care, it safeguards the growth and homesickness of every student.

For overseas students, the Spring Festival represents the deepest longing in their hearts, and dumplings serve as the warmest embodiment of this yearning—wrapped in the symbolism of reunion, carrying the flavors of home, and holding the Chinese people’s hopeful aspirations for the new year.

During the Spring Festival, the bustling campus was adorned with warm decorations. Red lanterns adorned the campus cafeteria, where teachers and students gathered in circles. Their laughter and cheer dispelled the winter chill.

While savoring the flavors of the New Year, students shared their hometown’s Spring Festival traditions and expressed their longing for family. Amidst laughter and joy, young people from different countries and cultural backgrounds broke down barriers and deepened friendships through mutual support, making dumplings a warm bridge for cross-cultural exchange.
